So, I happen to visit Lala today. It's a site that I visit very infrequently. Wait, what's that? "Diddy Boppin'" under new releases? When did that happen? How could this be the way that I found out? I check the Bad Boy label and artist MySpace and YouTube pages every day and, somehow, I haven't seen a single mention of this. I can't believe it.

"Diddy Boppin'" by Diddy featuring Yung Joc and Xplicit

At any rate, the good news is that "Diddy Boppin'" was released digitally on May 26. Above is the single cover. You can pick it up on Amazon.com (clean and dirty, iTunes, Lala and elsewhere.

During the month of May, music from Gorilla Zoe that wasn't previously available for purchase has been finding it's way to digital retailers (like Amazon.com, iTunes, Lala, etc.).

"I Am Atlanta" by Gorilla Zoe

On May 4, "Waddle" finally went up for sale, including clean, dirty and instrumental versions.

On May 13, "I Like Girls" was released. The track had been leaked previously on a mixtape last year, but you can now get the full, undoctored version of the song.

In an interview with Vlad TV, Busta Rhymes explained how Diddy pushed him to switch up his style in the 90s. It's a pretty funny clip and you can check it out below (warning: explicit language). When he was asked why he made the change, this is what he said:

"I think it was a combination of - not really the wider audience - it was more directed towards the women. Like one day, me and Diddy and Q-Tip was in the studio and, I tell people this story on a regular basis, like motherf***** Diddy was being a a**h*** with me one day in the studio - trying to f****** pop off joke s***. But, he said something that stuck with me and Q-Tip was kinda, you know, saying the same s** to me. And Puff was like "Hey yo Bus, man, b****** don't wanna f****** go rowl rowl like a dungeon dragon with you on every f****** record. Calm that s*** down, man. Try to spit on a song where you articulate your s*** a little clearer and you f****** use your regular voice. What the f*** is the screaming all the time on the record? B****** don't find that s*** sexy." I was like, "Yo, f*** you n****." So, you know, ultimately, I went home and I thought about the s*** and then I also felt like, you know, I ain't just gonna just do this s*** because they told me to do it, I gotta do that s*** because it feels right to me."

The video clip below features behind the scenes footage from the shoot of Red Cafe's new video for "Hottest in the Hood," starting at the 5:36 mark. The video features Diddy. It looks like it could be pretty cool. I think it would have been nice to see a video for the remix, but maybe they will head in that direction.

In the video below, purportedly shot over Memorial Day weekend, Yung Joc is briefly featured and introduces himself as "It's your n**** Yung J-O-C man, Swagg Team, Bad Boy, all that good s***. Check it out, right. Mr. Robinson's Neighborhood. The single "Wham."" It starts at the 2:28 spot.

This usually wouldn't be a story, but the recent hostility makes it one. Maybe they are working things out.

As we reported yesterday, The Boombox hosted today's premiere of the latest video from Day26's second album, "Forever in a Day." Check it out below:

This is better than I was expecting (given that the video premiere was announced days before it was actually happening). It's a pretty cool video. Despite the note included along with the video on The Boombox, I was told by a source at the label that "Stadium Music" is not their second single. From what I understand, it's primarily a video for the internet. So, definitely take it for what it is: a bonus video between their first and second singles.

Indeed, Qwanell "Que" Mosley of Day26 announced earlier this month that the second single would be "Your Heels.". Two days later, the group's MySpace featured a poll asking fans to vote on the second single. "Stadium Music" was not included on this list, while "Your Heels" was.

As of now, the results of the poll place "So Good" in the lead with 33%. "Your Heels" is second with 29%, followed by "Girlfriend" (16%), "Shawty Wats Up" (14%) and "Then There's You" (8%).

Via an Estee Lauder issued press release, Diddy has commented on I Am King's win Luxe Men's Fragrance of the Year category at the 2009 FiFi Awards.

SEAN JOHN I AM KING WINS FRAGRANCE FOUNDATION 2009 FIFI(R) AWARDS ON May 27, 2009: Sean John I Am King took home top honors at the 37th Annual FiFi(R) Awards hosted by The Fragrance Foundation at The Downtown Armory in New York City. Sean John's second men's fragrance, I Am King, was named Fragrance of The Year in the Men's Luxe category. Combs took home the same award for his first men's fragrance, Unforgivable, in May 2007.

"To receive our second award for Fragrance of the Year in the Men's Luxe category for our newest men's fragrance, I Am King, is truly a dream come true for me," Combs said. "I Am King represents my belief that whatever you believe about yourself is what you are destined to become. I believe that every man has the right to be a king, and I developed this fragrance to honor the king in every man."

I Am King combines sensual fruits and warm skin nuances to create a fragrance that is as comfortable as it is addictive. Sleek and polished, I Am King's magnetic appeal is a reflection of today's modern man -- he is the achiever, the inspirer, with the soul of a king. Just like the men who wear it, I Am King makes a statement -- embodying the true essence of the Sean John lifestyle.

Here are Bad Boy's positions on the most recent Billboard U.S. album and single charts, released today. Though "Echo" falls a bit on the Hot 100, it continues to gain on others and makes a nice debut on the Pop 100. Red Cafe also charts for the first time as a member of the Bad Boy camp, with "Hottest in the Hood" re-entering the "Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs" chart.

Albums

The Billboard 200

82. "Forever in a Day" by Day26 (down from 52).
132. "Don't Feed Da Animals" by Gorilla Zoe (down from 114).

Billboard Comprehensive Albums

84. "Forever in a Day" by Day26 (down from 52).

A bulletin from Day26's MySpace announced that the new video for their song, "Stadium Music," will be premiered on AOL's The Boombox on May 29 at 12:00 PM. They don't include a time zone, but I'd guess Eastern.

The all of a sudden release of this leads me to believe it's not what you might expect as a normal music video. Perhaps it is performance footage or a very low budget project. It is not their second single.

In the clip below, Atlanta music producer Nitti talks about his relationship with Yung Joc. In the past they have had some issues with each other.

At the end of the video, he says:

We gonna have a good time with this music thing. Everybody gonna make some money, we gonna keep it moving. Y'all get ready, everything is gonna be OK. Puff, everything is gonna be OK. Big Block, everything is gonna be OK. I love you, Block. What's going on, Blockster? How you doing, homie? Everything is gonna be OK. Joc, everything will be OK. I'ma tell y'all why everything gonna be OK. It's because Nitti's back in the picture, man, and we're gonna get everything worked out, man. You know, what I mean.

So don't y'all listen to that bulls*** y'all hear on the internet and all that stuff, you understand what I'm saying, everything is gonna be OK, man. Y'all stay out of other people's business. This ain't got nothing to do with everybody else. Y'all sit back and watch the movie and watch it unfold until history. You gonna see history made, I promise y'all that.

Not that Nitti can make it happen, necessarily, but this is good to hear. One thing: please stop blaming the internet for everything. Joc is the one who aired all of this out, when he spoke to Billboard and AllHipHop.com. The internet didn't make up what Joc said. Beyond that, again, this is good to hear.

Thanks Theo.

Following the #unfollowdiddy outbreak that started last night, #followdiddy is now a trending topic, as well, on Twitter Search. This is all bigger news than some people will make it out to be, but I'm sure random hip-hop blogs will be touting this as some sort of blow against Diddy, so I may as well mention that #followdiddy is trending, as well.

Also, if you read this and were thinking that #followdiddy is somehow responsible for slowing down Twitter, it's not. Not more than any other trending topic.

Congratulations to Diddy for becoming the 13th Twitter user to reach 1,000,000 followers. He posted the video below, to mark the milestone:

Coincidentally, the #unfollowdiddy hashtag is now a trending topic on Twitter Search. The comments tied to the tag reads like a good example of a Twitter mob gone bad - a manifestation of gossip hounds, people who believe Diddy is responsible for all aspects of his artists' lives forever, people who believe everything negative they read about celebrities, people who are looking to gain some sort of shine off of the situation and people who are simply legitimate "haters." By and large, anyway.

It'll pass and Diddy is best served by doing what he always does with these situations, which is to keep it moving.

It's been a rough 10 days or so for Bad Boy. First, Day26 calls out labelmate Donnie Klang, then nude pictures of Cassie leak online.

Now, in an interview with Tai Saint Louis of AllHipHop.com, Yung Joc announces that he's filed suit against Russell "Block" Spencer, Block Entertainment and Harve Pierre, alledging "contractual discrepancies" and unpaid royalties.

It's a lengthy interview that you should read if you want to hear the entirety of Joc's side of the story, but here are some key points:

Joc says that he was never signed to Block, he was signed to Chino Dolla's Mastermind. But, even so, when Spencer brought Yung Joc to Bad Boy, they gave Spencer a label deal and a deal as if Joc was signed to him. According to the rapper, Spencer then used Joc's budget however he wanted. He infers that funds were misappropriated.

He admits to not putting his all in, when it came to promoting "Hustenomics," because of what was going on at the time. When it came time to do a third album, he felt shortchanged, suggesting that Block tried to offer him an advance, at $25,000, that was the same as he got for his first album and, as such, not in line with what he felt he deserved. "I ain't f***** with Block since December of '07," he says. "So, why would Bad Boy give him my full budget if they know I wasn't recording with him."

Meanwhile, the label (either Bad Boy, Atlantic or both) insists that he's signed through Block and, as such, rebuffed attempts by him to circumvent Spencer.

Louis asks something that was on my mind, as well, which was how the "Diddy Bop" collaboration came about with all of this going on.

Diddy's MySpace mentions the creation of a cirocstars Twitter account, which will be used for notifications about parties, contest and exclusive drink recipes.

They also promise some sort of weekly coverage of a "VIP Ciroc Stars Party where the most exclusive party-goers and celebs will be getting it right." One of the ways this will be done is through a Twitpic account. You can submit your own photos, as well, by e-mailing cirocstars@gmail.com and they may be featured.

In the video below, from TrueExclusives, Donnie Klang talks to an assembled group of press after the Making the Band 4, Season 3, Part 2 finale.

Some interesting notes: he says that Bad Boy told him that he won't be putting out any new music for over a year. He plans to take matters into his own hands, creating music and leaking it online in hopes of generating buzz behind a track, potentially leading to an earlier release. He also talks about some of the artists he'd like to work with.

He's been working on a reality TV show treatment that he says will revolve around him and his body guard, comparing it to MTV's "Rob and Big." Check out the video for more.

They also have similar video of Dawn Richard and Day26.

On Sunday, Qwanell "Que" Mosley of Day26 announced on that "Your Heels" would be the second single from the group's latest album, "Forever in a Day."

However, a poll has now popped up on their MySpace asking fans to vote for their second single. I would tend to believe it has already been picked, but perhaps not.

At any rate, there are five choices on the poll. They are:

"Girlfriend"
"Shawty Wats Up"
"So Good"
"Then There's You"
"Your Heels"

Out of these, I probably lean towards "Shawty Wats Up" right now, as long as T-Pain will do the video. At the time of writing, they have received 473 votes. "So Good" is in the lead with 32%, but "Your Heels" closely follows at 30%. "Girlfriend" (16%), "Shawty Wats Up" (15%) and "Then There's You" (8%) round out the bottom of the list.

Jeremy Thomas of 411mania.com has a review of the three disc Collector's Edition DVD of "Notorious." He closes with:

In creating the life of Biggie Smalls for the big screen, director George Tillman Jr. finds most of his strength in the standout debut performance of Jamal Woolard who handles the role of the rapper with amazing skill. Woolard is supported by strong performances by the rest of his supporting cast; unfortunately a largely by-the-numbers biopic script and a tendency to smooth over certain negative elements of Biggie's story don't give the cast the support they need. Still, the performances and the amazing rap scenes are more than enough to hold the movie up, creating something well-worth checking out. The DVD gets a high-quality audio and video transfer along with a good set of special features, making this a very decent choice of DVD's to add to one's collection especially if one is a fan of hip-hop and Christopher Wallace's in particular.

An Extra viewer asked Will Smith who would play the best black bond: Diddy, Jamie Foxx or himself. He answered:

"Puff probably lives the most like James Bond... Jamie Foxx got the swag for James Bond. He can sing too, so he can add a new element to Bond. Wooing the ladies... and I think I can guarantee the box office!"

Previously, Diddy released a mini-movie he called his Bond audition tape and mentioned his desire to play the role in interviews. Foxx also mentioned that Diddy would make a good bond.

Overnight, nude pictures of Cassie leaked online. According to the singer, someone hacked into her computer, in order to gain access to them. To her credit, she has quickly issued a statement regarding their release online:

The recent personal pictures that have been leaked on the internet of me were hacked and stolen out of my computer. These photos were obviously never intended for the world to see and itís sad that people would really take time to steal and post them, itís just evil. At the end of the day breasts are breasts, mine werenít the first youíve seen and they wonít be the lastÖ people need to grow up, letís move on. Thank you.

She is an adult and is free to use her computer as she wants. That said, I question the wisdom of a celebrity putting nude photos on their computer, cell phone or any internet connected device in this day and age. Celebrity devices getting hacked and pictures getting taken isn't new and it is something that has made headlines before. I don't mean to pile on, by any means, and she's probably asking herself the same questions I'm asking right now.

However, what shouldn't be forgotten is that her privacy has been breached here and that is not OK. Whether or not she should have had the pictures on her computer, it is both illegal and unethical for someone to hack her computer. She is right to call that person "evil."

There appears to have been two photos posted online, both of mediocre image quality. For what it's worth, they are only of her upper half. (Update: It now appears that full pictures have been leaked, as well, unfortunately). I'm not going to link to them, and any links posted in the comments will be deleted, as well any comments by people indicating they have seen them. At the end of the day, if you want to find them, you can. But, you're just not going to do it here, as we try to maintain a relatively work friendly environment, as much as possible. Just because I have to acknowledge this story doesn't mean we'll be acting as a point of distribution. Thank you, in advance, for respecting that.

Billboard and paidContent.org report on the release of fiscal second quarter earnings at Warner Music Group.

The company posted a loss of $68 million or 45 cents per share. In the same period last year, they lost $37 million or 25 cents a share. A chunk of this was a $33 million dollar write down on its investments in Lala and Imeem.

The report was below Wall Street's expectations. Revenue dropped 17%, falling to $668 million and Wall Street had been looking for $730.2 million. After the investment charges, the earnings per share came to a loss of 23 cents, whereas Wall Street had been expecting a loss of 25 cents.

One good note, however, is that the company is sitting on a lot of cash. $658 million to be exact. This is around 20% more than what they held in their last quarter.

Finally, an interesting note from paidContent.org's Robert Andrews:

Music sales still sliding: The company blames ďa light release schedule and the turbulent global economyĒ, saying better releases are coming toward yearís end.

Counted among those releases will no doubt be Diddy's "Last Train to Paris."

Warner Music Group is the parent of Atlantic Records and their family of labels, which includes Bad Boy.

In an interview with Hardknock TV, Day26 criticized Donnie Klang for remarks he made on the finale of the second part of the third season of Making the Band 4. Specifically, his comments about Day26 having more TV time. I pulled the footage of the finale and watched this part of the show. Here is the exchange between Sway, the show's host, and Donnie:

Sway: You went through a lot of struggles yourself, but what did you learn by watching Day26? What was the lesson learned?

Donnie: I mean, for me, it was frustrating. I definitely, definitely want to get this off my chest. Like, I love them and they're a group and they're going to go through their stuff and, obviously, it took up most of the TV time. I feel like I lost out on a lot of footage and a lot of chances that fans could have got to know me. So, I feel like I'm working on a spin-off show or I'm going to do something to really get my face out there, aside from all the drama.

This doesn't seem all that bad, but it struck a nerve with the members of Day26. Mike especially had harsh words, repeatedly saying "father f*** you" in reference to Donnie. I don't really care about the context, but repeatedly saying that phrase as he does in the interview just isn't professional or mature and it casts the group in a bad light. In any case, though, between the mixture of laughter and silence from the others, they all share in the responsibility for this interview.

As more and more Bad Boy artists, marketing people and employees get on Twitter, they are discovering the personal and professional benefits that it can create. At the same time, most are still relatively new to it and, as such, are still learning the lay of the land and how they can get the most out of it and use it most effectively.

I'm here to help. From watching various members of the Bad Boy camp participate, I've developed this ten point guide to getting the most out of Twitter, from both a personal and professional perspective.

This includes a marketing perspective, as well, allowing you to create value and generate interest in whatever it is you are doing right now, in the form of traffic, replies and retweets (when someone else passes along a tweet that you sent). Yes, Twitter is (in part, at least) about self promotion or, more or less, talking about what you are doing.

With all of this said, I just wanted to say that one of the great things about Twitter is that it is what you make of it, in many ways. Plenty of people try to place "rules" on how others should participate, but the beauty of Twitter is that you can follow whoever you want. Everyone, no one or something in between. At the end of the day, the important thing is to stay true and respect others. These aren't "rules," just friendly advice.

Aasim's MySpace has a clock counting down to the release of his debut album. It gives an album title, "No Radio," and the date it counts down to is January 17, 2010.
