In a two part feature with Complex (part 1, part 2), producer DJ Clark Kent talks about how some of the classic records he produced came together.

This includes a number of Bad Boy and, specifically, The Notorious B.I.G. related records, such as Junior M.A.F.I.A.'s "Player's Anthem," "I Need You Tonight" and "Realms of Junior M.A.F.I.A.", Lil' Kim's "Time to Shine," Jay-Z's "Brooklyn's Finest" and Biggie's "Sky's the Limit" and "Come On." It's a great read.

Mary J. Blige released the sequel to 1994's "My Life," which is considered by many to be a classic R&B album. That release featured heavy production from Diddy, who teamed mostly with Carl "Chucky" Thompson to provide nearly all of the album.

Unfortunately, the sequel does not contain any production from Diddy, though some versions of the album include Someone to Love Me (Naked)", which features the Bad Boy CEO, as a bonus track.

But, Diddy's voice is heard on the album thanks to the intro, a telephone conversation - just like the opener to the original "My Life."

Diddy says that if she wants to follow up a classic, she must "come with it." Blige then explains that the album represents an evolution and isn't a competitor to her second album.

AllHipHop.com has more from Diddy's remarks at Heavy D's funeral.

"I had an idea that I wanted to manage Heavy D. The only problem was I didn't know him," Sean "Diddy" Combs said. "I just knew we were from the same town. So I made a plan to bump into him. So I would stand on his block hoping he would stop and roll down his window. He would pull up and talk to me and I would be his manager. That didn't work well, because he kept driving by. But then I found out about a pizza shop he liked. So I would hang out there. My plan worker. I met him at the pizza shop. He was the type of guy to hear you out. I asked him if he would help me meet Andre Harrell so I could get an internship at Uptown. He got me the chance to work with Andre and the rest is history. A lot of our dreams came true, thank god.

Mesfin Fekadu of the Associated Press reports from Heavy D's funeral. Diddy was one of the people who spoke.

"He became my friend. He became my brother. And I'm not talking about friend-brother like we cavalierly use the word, I'm talking about a real friend, a real brother," Diddy said. "Somebody I shared my dreams and my secrets with, somebody that's been for me at my lowest point, my darkest hour when nobody wanted to be beside me."

But he also told jokes as he recounted his "bromance" with the rapper, including a recent visit to Miami that was supposed to last for three days, but "turned into three weeks." He added that Heavy D got to know his chef "very well."

Yesterday saw the release of Machine Gun Kelly's "Wild Boy" music video. Except that, according to the rapper, it was the wrong version and it wasn't meant to go up. Though that version remains online, the official visual has now been released.

The song features Waka Flocka Flame and the music video was directed by Spiff TV, featuring cameos by comedian Katt Williams and Layzie Bone of Bone Thugs-N-Harmony. There are a few readily apparent differences between the two versions of the video. The clip where a girl introduces MGK to her parents now starts the video, rather than appearing before Waka Flocka Flame's verse.

Now, before Waka Flocka Flame's verse is a new, short cutaway to MGK and Waka talking. Finally, the stylized "Lace Up" logo is included at the start and end, in addition to record label logos and mentions of where you can find the rapper on the web. Watch below.

In January, we learned that Guy Gerber and Diddy were working on a collaborative album.

The Independent and mybeatFix.com both chatted with Gerber in September and he revealed more about the project.

The project itself is called "11:11." It's unclear if that is the album title, the name that the pair have given themselves collectively (which seems to be how it is being referred to) or both.

According to Gerber, the project will include vocals from Diddy, Dirty Money and "Biggie's old tracks that [Diddy] gave" Gerber. The album is "about a date when a mystical gate is open and two worlds collide. It's the beginning of the carnival. It's the beginning of the end or the start of another dimension."

The first single was being mastered in September and is titled "Tourist Trap." It will have remixes from Jamie Jones, Visionquest, Soul Clap, Renaissance Man and David K. In the interview with The Independent in early September, Gerber said that it was to be released within the next two months, a time frame that has now come and gone.

Heavy D passed away suddenly yesterday at the all too young age of 44.

Born Dwight Arrington Myers, he found success in the late 1980s as the leader of the group Heavy D and the Boyz, which included Eddie F (Edward Ferrel), G-Whiz (Glen Parrish) and Trouble T-Roy (Troy Dixon). His biggest hits included "Now That We Found Love," "Big Daddy," "Got Me Waiting" and more. He is survived by a daughter. For more, read the obituary published by the Los Angeles Times.

Heavy D and Diddy were very close. As the well told story goes, Heavy D befriended a young Sean Combs and brought him to Uptown Records CEO Andre Harrell, which resulted in an internship with the company. Diddy quickly rose through the ranks and left Uptown after being fired by Harrell.

Heavy D joined Bad Boy for a brief period of time during the label's days under Universal, recording under the name Hev-D. He released at least two songs while with the label, featuring ad-libs from Diddy, including "Big Booty Girls" (vinyl) and "It's Your Birthday" (which may not have been released officially). No album would be released under the label.

The Facebook page of Paul Wilmot Communications, who counts Sean John among their clients, has a scan from the October 27 issue of Women's Wear Daily, discussing the growing retail space will has been and will be afforded in Macy's stores, with whom it has an exclusive distribution agreement.

A 2,000 square foot area, in a prime location, was just unveiled at Macy's Herald Square in New York, New York. Last month, a similarly themed, though smaller, space in Macy's Union Square flagship store in San Francisco. Macy's plans to have 10 more of these newly enhanced in-store shops launched in 2012.

Furthermore, Sean John has announced a licensing deal with SJ Retail LLC, which was founded and will be run by Bob Hyde, who previously was in charge of retail operations at Crocs. Under the terms of the 20 year contract, SJ Retail will acquire the leases of the eight Sean John outlet stores, including the existing inventory, and will be required to open 3 stores a year for each of the next 10 years.

At least some of these new stores are expected to be full price retail stores, as opposed to outlet stores. At this time, Sean John only has one full priced retail store - a location in Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson airport, which will not be run by SJ Retail.
