I missed last night's episode of Making the Band 4. Luckily, I caught an encore presentation this afternoon and wrote up a liveblog as I was watching it.

To begin the episode, after Diddy has welcomed us to his world, the guys are in the studio, having a tough time harmonizing. Robert talks about how they only have five weeks and since they haven't worked together much, they don't have that chemistry.

Slam is working with the girls (specifically, Dawn and D. Woods are the ones that we see) and he's liking what he hears. Dawn explains that they can get their work done quicker than last time because of their familiarity with each other.

Diddy arrives at the studio, still on the crutches. He's here to listen to some tracks. First, "Silly Love" by Day 26. Brian is nervous because Diddy just sits there listening, not moving at all. He tells them to cut the chorus over, do the first chorus and the bridge better. He doesn't really like it as it is.

Donnie's "I Don't Care" gets the next listen. Diddy tells him to make it his own and to commit to the story - work on the finesse. Finally, Danity Kane's "Is Anybody Listening" plays and Diddy is bobbing his head. After he turns it off, he applauds. He complements them saying that it's almost there and they definitely sound like a group. The guys can learn from them, he says.

Diddy then plays an instrumental track and most people in the room are bobbing to it. He asks them if they liked it? They all said I like it. Well, mostly. Aubrey doesn't seem to excited and Diddy asks her if she really likes it? She says she does. He asks her if she loves it and she says she doesn't, but she likes it a lot.

He says it's a track that has to be written to. It'll be a competition. The guys versus the girls. They will both write to it and whoever produces the best track will get it.

Conrad Dimanche tells them that he wants both of them to work tonight and get it done. And Diddy will listen to them tomorrow and make a decision. Slam says he's going with the guys and Conrad goes with the girls.

The girls and boys get to work. Danity Kane comes up with the idea of a chase track, about chasing a girl. Both the girls and the boys having fun. The boys are helping each other nail their parts by sharing techniques.

Qwanell goes over to the girls session and they see him outside the door and Aubrey decides that he's heard some of their track, so she wants to hear some of theirs. But, they don't let her. Meanwhile, the girls talk about being the established act. Dawn says that they look at them (with accent) like "little niños. Go do what you do. We'll bring home the bacon."

We're now back at where the guys are staying. Q and Robert can't sleep, even though it's very late. The rest of the guys are asleep. So, they decide they will prank them. They decide to put baby powder and toothpaste on people. A lot of it. And they tie their sheets to the legs holding up the beds and/or tables. Michael wakes up and catches them in the act. Michael, half asleep, finds what they did and he's not happy. Meanwhile, Q puts it on his bed so that he can act like it wasn't him. He and Robert now go to bed.

We now see Donnie walking down the hall way, apparently he was out. He walks into the living room where Michael is asleep on his stomach on the couch with baby power all over his back. Donnie, wondering what happened, asks Q. Returning to the living room, Donnie sits down and laughs, saying he just wants to know what happened. He would have guessed Q, but it's all over his bed. Michael says, very simply: "Q did it."

Michael decides that it's time for them to get it back. He fills a trash can with water and gets a carton of milk. He pours the milk on Robert, who wakes up, spins and does not look happy. And then he dumps the water on Q. Willie wakes up and, like the others, doesn't look pleased. His sheet is tied to the table so, as he gets up, a few things are knocked off it and we hear the sound of glass breaking. That's it for tonight's pranks.

It's a new day and everyone heads back to the studio, where we're listening to the competition tracks. Day 26's "Danger" and Danity Kane's "The Chase" are played. Conrad comes in the room. Diddy's not with him. He asks them what they think of each of the tracks and both groups feel they did great. Conrad tells them that Diddy doesn't share their optimism, saying that neither is a hit. Neither track is going to be picked. He's not sure what they will do with the song - maybe have someone else write to it.

Conrad then asks Danity Kane to leave the room. Robert, in confessional, says that he's thinking that maybe Conrad just said that to let the girls down easy and now, maybe Day 26 will get the track. Not quite. He says that, after talking to Puff, we have a problem. And it might hold up the album. Diddy's not happy with any of their songs and he's not sure if they are ready to record an album. They need to go through extensive vocal training right away. Hopefully they can get it together soon. Conrad says he'll pray for them. Michael's upset and looks like he's about to cry.

Diddy says he did it again, sorry, but he kicked another group out of the studio. He says that if the group isn't emotionally connected, they need to get out of the studio. The guys are sent to "intense vocal training" according to Robert. They are back at S.I.R Studios to work with Ankh Ra. He listens to Donnie's "I Don't Care" and Day 26's "Crazy Love".

He tells Donnie that there needs to be more there to keep people interested in the story. He tells Day 26 that they don't sound like a group, they sound like they are competing on tracks. Ankh Ra asks them all if this is what they wanted? And when they say yes, he tells them all that they got their dream and they don't look happy. They say they are and begin training.

The girls get sentimental in the studio on what is the 2nd year anniversary since Diddy picked them to be in the group. D. Woods bought a card for the group and they got a cake, as well. So, they take a moment to celebrate and reflect on what they have done and what is coming.

Back to the guys at S.I.R, the guys are training. Donnie says that usually training is about one hour. They end up being with Ankh Ra from 1:00 PM to 12:00 AM. Day 26 is having a very tough time. The guys are doing "Exclusive (No Excuses)". Ankh Ra asks them how they are feeling and Michael is beat boxing. Ankh Ra tells them that they are playing and they don't have the time to play. After they sing more, he tells them that they look horrendous. It looks really bad - like they aren't professionals.

The guys are headed to Philadelphia to perform for the Boys and Girl Club of America. Danity Kane will be performing, as well. Robert talks about the importance of the performance, being that Diddy has kicked them out of the studio and this is an opportunity to show that they are ready. They will be playing at the Wachovia Center.

They meet the boys and girls that are participating in the event and have a general meet and greet, signing autographs and posing for pictures. Both groups (especially the guys and Donnie) are having a lot of fun. Michael says that he was in the Boys Club himself.

They have sound check and they are behind. Danity Kane handles it well. The guys are up next and numerous things are going wrong. The piano isn't hooked up right and they can't hear each other in their ear pieces. Worried, they head to the sideline and talk. Robert doesn't want to have to explain a bad show to Diddy.

The Wachovia Center fills in. Q is nervous, after their bad sound check. Michael Bivins and Ankh Ra stops by. The summation is that Danity Kane is used to these things happening and the guys are not. It's time to head out. Michael Bivins goes out and introduces the girls, who perform "One Shot" and "Show Stopper". They perform well.

It's time for Day 26 and Donnie to go on. Bivins introduces Donnie who heads over to the piano and begins his part from the live version of "Exclusive (No Excuses)". Donnie starts it off right, clearly giving the rest of the guys confidence. They walk on to join him, in his performance of the song. They also perform the main version of the song. They pull it together and do a solid job.

On the way back, Aubrey tells the guys that they were amazing and the guys say the same for them. Robert hopes that this performance leads to them getting back into the studio. Aubrey and Donnie and Dawn and Q snuggle up a bit as the tour bus rides along. And the episode ends.

Next episode: Everyone heads to Miami. Donnie gets to know Aubrey better. And then Aubrey catches Donnie with some other girl.
