Earlier this month, Nikita recapped the exhaustive coverage that Diddy received in the May 2 issue of the Daily Variety. I also briefly mentioned all of the "congratulations" advertisements featured in the publication. But, now that I finally have my hands on a copy, I'm able to go into a little detail. Unless otherwise noted, the ads I mention are full page ads.

The front cover of the magazine features a message from Sean John. "You have always been a star to us, now the world knows just how brightly you shine... The SJ Family." Inside that cover is a message from BET Networks. "Music maker to music mogul. Star of stage and screen to his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. We salute our billion dollar entrepreneur. Congratulations from your friends and family at BET Networks."

Page 7 features a message from MTV. They have a picture of Diddy with a star over it that has the words "Super. Star." inside of it. Then, below, "Congratulations on your star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame." Moving to page 9, there is a row of 5 stars. One each for Sean Combs, Puff Daddy, Puffy, P. Diddy and Diddy. "Congratulations to all of you from your friend, Antonio "LA" Reid and the entire Island Def Jam family."

Page 13 has a note from the William Morris Agency. "We proudly congratulate our client, Sean Combs, 2008 Hollywood Walk of Fame honoree." Jewelry designer Lorraine Schwartz has a half page ad on page 14. "Dear Puff, You have the Midas touch... Whenever you do something you take it to the top. Enjoy your star! You deserve it."

Page 16 is taken over by Atlantic Records. "Congratulations Puff. #1 mogul, superstar, producer, designer and partner. Love your friends, Lyor, Kevin, Julie, Craig, Kyser and the entire Atlantic family."

Page 19 begins Variety's editorial coverage of Diddy. It runs through page 33. Page 19 has a message from Craig Zadan and Neil Meron. "To our fellow producer, star, and nephew... Congratulations on a dream that was not deferred." Page 20 has a dedication from Ciroc. "Congratulations Diddy on your star on the Walk of Fame!"

Page 23 features the most interesting ad of them all - and the one that had to have taken the most time to create. This one is from Violator. It features an image of Diddy from a Bad Boys of Comedy promotional photo. Above him, in red ink, "Don't worry if I write rhymes... I write checks!" And, in a border around the ad, a number of Diddy lyrics or lyrics from tracks that have featured Diddy. Here they are:

"What y'all wanna do, wanna be ballers, shot callers, brawlers." ("It's All About the Benjamins (Remix)")
"We ain't, goin' nowhere... we can't be stopped now, 'cause it's Bad Boy for life." ("Bad Boy for Life")
"Cars, jewelry and big homes, yeah, Diddy did it." ("I Get Money (Forbes 1-2-3 Billion Dollar Remix)")
"World famous PD, I moved in, I live on TV." ("Lights, Camera, Action! (Remix)")
"Not guilty, and I'm filthy." ("Let's Get It")
"You can hate me now, but I won't stop now." ("Hate Me Now")
"Don't hate me, hate the money I see." ("Hate Me Now," said by Nas)
"Hug me baby, I'ma make you love me baby." ("Victory")
"It's a Bentley to you, but to me, it's a blue car." ("Diddy")
"Take dat, take dat." (multiple, perhaps most notably "Hypnotize")
"I thought I told you that we won't stop." (multiple, perhaps most notably "Only You (Bad Boy Remix)")
"I'm the king of all kings, I abide by no rules." ("We Gon' Make It")
"You can spot us out of town by the way that we walk, the way that we talk, cocky, the state of New York." ("Welcome to Atlanta (Coast 2 Coast Remix)")
"Got something to prove, don't talk it, walk it." ("Diddy Rock")

Fans will love this ad. What a wide, great selection of tracks they pulled from. The dedication for the ad is: "With love and respect we honor and congratulate our friend, Sean Combs, for being the hip hop icon, the industry mogul, the best of the best, the Hollywood star. Chris Lighty and the Violator Family".

Page 24 and 25 are back to back dedications. On the left side, you have "Congratulations Puff, on your Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. We support this milestone in your career, and thanks for celebrating our many milestones over the past 10 years! Grouchy Greg Watkins, Chuck "Jigsaw" Creekmur & the Entire AllHipHop.com Family." On the other side, you have "Congratulations to my partner. Very best, Ron Burkle & The Yucaipa Companies."

The bottom third of page 26 has a message from Dallas Austin. "Congratulations to my homeboy, my friend, for 20 years. We started young and stayed young! I love you and I am very proud of you!" Page 27 has a message from Sean John Fragrances. "Not just a star... a force of nature. Sean John Fragrances congratulates Sean "Diddy" Combs on his arrival on the Hollywood Walk of Fame."

It's another back to back spread on pages 28 and 29. On 28, you have a note from NMA (Norm Marshall & Associates, Inc.). "Congratulations on your star on the Walk of Fame. We raise a glass to you!" Fishman & Tobin, Inc., a company that manufacturer's Sean John clothing, has page 29. It's a Sean John advertisement photo featuring Justin Combs. "Congratulations on your life-long achievements. From your friends at Fishman & Tobin, Inc. We are proud to be your partner."

The bottom half of page 30 has a dedication from Aretha Franklin. "Congratulations Puff. A Star for a superstar, entrepreneur & artist!" Page 31 comes from Allen Grubman and Kenny Meiselas. "From Puffy to Puff Daddy to P Diddy to Diddy, there's only one Sean Combs. It's been an honor to represent you all these years. Congratulations: a star for a true star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame!"

Bad Boy Entertainment chimes in on page 33. "From Harlem to Hollywood. The Billion Dollar Entrepreneur. Congratulations Puff. From the entire Bad Boy family." The final dedication comes on the back cover of the magazine. "The Safran Company warmly congratulates our friend and client, Sean Combs, on being honored as Variety's Billion Dollar Entrepreneur."
