Earlier today, April 1, we reported that French Montana has released a sequel to "Ocho Cinco," titled "Ocho Sies."
In Spanish, ocho cinco means 8-5. Seis means 6. So, ocho sies is 8-6 or one more than ocho cinco.
If you played the audio clip on that story, you'll notice a hip-hop sounding beat - in this case, A Tribe Called Quest. But if you continue to listen, in comes Rick Astley singing "Never Gonna Give You Up," a song that best known these days for rickrolling
At that point, listeners likely realized that, with today being April 1, it was an April Fools' Day joke. But, just in case, April Fools! I hope that you had a fun day.
It was on this day 7 years ago that I launched Bad Boy Blog
. I wanted to create a publication that fans could trust, that would cover both the good and bad of Bad Boy.
In honor of this milestone, I would like to take a moment to thank everyone who has supported this outlet. Everyone who subscribes via RSS, Twitter, Facebook or elsewhere. Anyone who has ever provided me with a kind word. It means a lot to me. Thank you for your support and kindness.
Thank you for visiting Bad Boy Blog. This is a special message for those who subscribe to our website through our RSS feed.
Until now, we've used a service called FeedBurner to serve our RSS feed. Unfortunately, there have been some ominous signs
that the product is not receiving adequate attention, leading to questions about its reliability.
I wanted to address this before it is a real issue and, as such, have moved our RSS feed to another provider. To that end, I would like to ask you to please delete your old subscription and subscribe to our new feed URL, which is at http://feeds.badboyblog.com/badboyblog
The good news is that, with this change, we will have increased control over our RSS feed, ensuring that we will not need to ask you to resubscribe again in the future due to issues with a provider like this.
Thank you for your understanding and for reading Bad Boy Blog.
Bad Boy Blog will be taking a hiatus from normal coverage from June 12 through June 17. Thank you for your patience and for reading Bad Boy Blog.
I started Bad Boy Blog because, as a fan of Bad Boy Records, I wanted a source of news and information that took a responsible approach to reporting. That's what Bad Boy Blog is
. We're not a gossip site and we don't share illegal downloads. I take this very seriously.
That is except for one day of the year - April 1. April Fools' Day. It has become a tradition where we have a little fun here. In 2008, we reported that Mase wanted to sign to Suge Knight's new record label
. In 2009, Jordan McCoy was joining Boyz N Da Hood
and we premiered the supposed first single for Diddy's upcoming album "Last Train to Paris."
In 2010, a series of "Hello Good Morning" remixes was said to be coming out for different times of the day
. And last year, we reported that the label would change its name to Good Boy Records
This year, we continued the tradition by reporting that Coke Boys leader French Montana had signed an endorsement deal with Coca-Cola
and Mr. Lace Up, Machine Gun Kelly would give up shoe laces
It has been 6 whole years since Bad Boy Blog launched on March 14, 2006
It's been a fun ride, writing about a topic I enjoy. BBB is for the fans and we cover the good and the bad from that perspective.
Thank you to everyone who reads Bad Boy Blog and has subscribed to us via some means, including Twitter and Facebook. Thank you to everyone who has shared our articles and supported us. It is greatly appreciated.
Thank you for visiting Bad Boy Blog.
I just wanted to take a moment to say thank you to everyone who has supported Bad Boy Blog in 2011. Thank you to everyone who loyally reads and subscribes and to everyone who shares our content and appreciates what we have going on here. It means a lot.
I hope that you have a great holiday season and a happy, healthy and successful 2012.
members, we have just released a couple of Bad Boy and Diddy focused playlists.
Our "Diddy's Greatest Hits" playlist
features all of Diddy's solo songs that charted on The Billboard Hot 100 chart, plus "It's All About the Benjamins (Remix)." Only one song is missing, "Come With Me," because Spotify does not yet have it.
The second playlist is "The Remixes,"
a loose list of remixes that were either produced by Diddy and/or a member of The Hitmen (when they were with The Hitmen), remixes that have vocals from Diddy or remixes that feature a current or former Bad Boy artist when they were with Bad Boy.
If we're missing any songs that could fit into that second list, and the song is available on Spotify, please let us know in the comments.
If you are a regular reader of Bad Boy Blog, you know that every week we post the latest Bad Boy positions on the Billboard charts. Usually on Thursday.
You may have noticed that Thursday, July 21 came and went with no charts. And the same thing happened on July 28. I'd like to apologize for that.
The reason for it is that the login system on Billboard.biz
has been down for at least 11 days. Billboard.biz, a more music industry focused site than Billboard.com, gives paying subscribers (like us) access to the full Billboard charts. I have called and emailed them and they said (last week) that it was a known issue that they were hoping to have fixed soon.
As soon as they fix it, we'll go back and post the charts that we have missed as well as the current charts.
Thank you for reading Bad Boy Blog.
Have you heard of Turntable.fm
? The social DJing service allows you to play licensed songs for others and/or to listen to what others play. It is a lot of fun and I have been spending a lot of time on it lately.
The service allows you to create rooms and, for a couple of weeks now, I have wanted to try to host a Bad Boy Records DJ set, focusing on music released by or featuring artists that are now or were once signed to Bad Boy. With former artists, I will be playing music that they released or were featured on while they were with Bad Boy.
Our first attempt at this is going to be this Saturday, July 9, from 9 to 10 PM Eastern Time
. I'll be DJing for the room, playing a wide array songs and hopefully taking a few requests, as well. If it goes well, we'll make it a regular thing and maybe even extend it beyond an hour.
Turntable.fm is not open to the general public, unfortunately. To join, you must be in the United States and you must have a Facebook friend who is already on the service. Visit Turntable.fm
and connect your Facebook page to see if you have one. However, if you don't, all is not lost. I would be happy to add you as a friend on my personal Facebook
, so that you can get in. When you submit the friend request, please include a note saying that you are a Bad Boy Blog reader, so that I know where you are coming from.
Once you are on Turntable.fm, you'll have everything that you need to hang out in the room, listen to some Bad Boy music and chat with me and others. You can find the Bad Boy Blog room at turntable.fm/badboyblogcom
. I look forward to seeing you there!
