I live in Harbinger, North Carolina. I've been a Bad Boy fan for nearly 9 years, going back to 1997 when I was 12 years old. That's when I picked up No Way Out and Harlem World. How I came to like the music, I don't know. I just know, from the moment I heard it, I liked it. My parents always liked rock music as my brothers do today. But, for one reason or another, I was different. Not that I don't like rock music, I do. But, my preferences always lean heavily into hip hop. 1997 was the year I really started buying music. Before 1997, mixed in with the kid tunes sort of music, I had picked out 2 albums in the early 90s that my parents bought for me. These were MC Hammer's Too Legit to Quit and TLC's CrazySexyCool. Only much later would I find out/realize that CrazySexyCool featured production from Diddy and the male voice speaking opposite T-Boz in CrazySexyCool and Sexy interludes was, in fact, Diddy.
I didn't have much money, but what I scrapped together and spent, most of it went toward music. And that music was usually Bad Boy or Bad Boy related. Shortly after I picked up the Puff Daddy and Mase albums, I discovered Life After Death. Although tracks like Mo Money, Mo Problems, Can't Nobody Hold Me Down, It's All About the Benjamins, I'll Be Missing You, Victory, Feel So Good, etc. were favorites, I eventually came to appreciate most, if not all, of the tracks on the albums. I was a Bad Boy fan. Over the years, I've beefed up my collection, including the purchase of tons of rare tracks (on CDs and Vinyl) off of eBay. My collection is huge. The greatest thing about it, however, is that it is completely legal. I bought everything in my collection. I don't illegally download, I buy. I support the label, I support the artists.
I have every album Bad Boy has ever released. From the first (Project: Funk Da World by Craig Mack) to the last (Duets: The Final Chapter by The Notorious B.I.G., at the time of writing). I have the vast majority of Bad Boy tracks ever released, I would have to say. I can't give you a count because I honestly don't know. Bad Boy albums, Bad Boy singles, albums executive produced by Diddy (such as Phenomenon by LL Cool J), albums with production from Diddy and The Hitmen (such as Home Again by New Edition and J.Lo by Jennifer Lopez), tracks with Diddy or a Bad Boy artist featured, remixes, mixtapes... it goes on and on. If I discover something I didn't know existed, I buy it. I bought Duets 3 times. Once from iTunes for the Three Bricks bonus track, once from Wal Mart for the DVD and once from Target for the Want That Old Thing Back and Running Your Mouth bonus tracks. Gotta love marketing.
A lot of people like to take shots at Diddy as an artist and as a rapper, but I like his sound and if I had to choose one artist's catalogue to listen to, I'd choose his. The Notorious B.I.G. is also a favorite of mine, of course. But, I'm not afraid to say that Diddy is my favorite.
I also like Sean John a lot and, as such, have a number of pieces. Diddy is an inspiration to me on a business level, as well.
In addition to Bad Boy Blog, I also run
BadBoyForums.com, an unofficial Bad Boy fan community.
Non Bad Boy related, I own the iFroggy Network, of which this site is a part. I wrote a book on internet communiy management called
Managing Online Forums. I'm into sports (Yankees and Dolphins), writing, investing, music (Diddy and Bad Boy, obviously, but plenty of others as well), a few TV shows (House, 24, The Simpsons, The War at Home, Family Guy), reading, gaming and plenty of other things.
