The Detroit News has more about the white party in Detroit tomorrow. In the article, it says:
Rap impresario Diddy (Sean John Combs), owner of the Sean John clothing line, sends his love to the "D" by way of his new neo-soul group Soul Mafia.
But, this is incorrect. While Soul Mafia is playing, they're not signed to Bad Boy.
Freep.com has an interview with Charles Hicks, the promoter of the Sean John White Party that is happening in Detroit on Sunday.
QUESTION: Tell me about the premise behind the white party?
ANSWER: Diddy really started it on a grand scale. We do it here as a nice event. You see thousands of people in white. It looks like you're in hip-hop heaven. And more or less, we're just making it bigger and bigger every year. We're trying to make Chene Park be the ultimate one, so we don't have to go anywhere else anymore. We're just shaking it up. Indoor, outdoor, it's going to look like a nightclub with white fabric everywhere.
AllHipHop.com has an article on Diddy/Sean John's Fifi Awards win:
"Somebody from fashion had come up to me, an African-American man and he had tears in his eyes because the fashion industry is such a segregated industry and he was just stating that I didn't realize that I was the first African American to ever win this award," Combs told AllHipHop.com. "I've won Grammy's and other awards, but to really win this award is a crazy honor. It's a part of history so it feels great."
Sean John took home the 2007 FiFi Award in the Luxury Men's category for Unforgiveable. Diddy was on hand to accept the award as well as present one. Their site has a photo story featuring a number of pictures of him. For more coverage, see WWD.com:
When I started Sean John, I had big dreams, Combs, a first-time FiFi attendee, said before the ceremony started. From the CFDA award to this now, this is big. Speaking of big, I have so many ideas for fragrance I wish they could produce it quicker! Im already on my fourth fragrance, but were only in production with the second one. Speaking of production, Combs, who recently told WWD that he was considering doing a baby carriage license, seemed more on board with the idea. I have so many kids now, it would probably be appropriate, said Combs, who welcomed twin daughters in December.
I believe we were the first to report a tracklisting for the CD in the Sephora exclusive gift set, but they have put out a press release now revealing that only 3,000 copies of the CD will be produced. So, if you want it, you should probably go out and get it or order it from their site.
Sephora is offering a Sean John Unforgivable Multi Platinum Gift Set that includes the fragrance and a 2 track CD. The tracks on the CD are:
1. "Last Night" featuring Keyshia Cole.
2. "Come to Me" featuring Nicole Scherzinger.
So, nothing new, unfortunately.
On May 17, from 6 to 8 PM, select Sephora stores will be holding a listening party to promote the new Sean John Unforgiveable Multi Platinum fragrance. The stores are located in Santa Monica, CA, Arlington, VA, Houston, TX, Atlanta, GA, San Francisco, CA, Chicago, IL, New York, NY, Troy, MI and King of Prussia, PA. See the flier below and their website.
From Crain's New York Business:
For the first time the title of the top-selling new fragrance of the year has gone to a scent for men. On Tuesday Sean "Diddy" Combs' new scent, Unforgivable, was officially crowned the No. 1 fragrance launch of 2006 by trend tracking firm The NPD Group Inc.
They've been tracking it for 10 years and this is the first time it's happened. That's pretty cool. It's been a huge success.
