First single "Come to Me" featuring the Pussycat Dolls' Nicole Scherzinger is No. 13 on Billboard's Hot Rap Tracks chart this week. Diddy will perform the track later tomorrow (Sept. 7) in Miami Beach as part of NBC's "NFL Kickoff" show, which will also feature Yung Joc, Cassie, Tego Calderon and Ozomatli.
SV: Ok ok. So your debut album, �New Joc City,� is killing the charts and flying off the shelves left and right with hits like �It�s Going Down� and �I Know You See It.� What�s your favorite song on the album?
Yung Joc: My favorite would probably be �Picture Perfect,� because its one of the realest songs with the most substance and most truth to it.
Model-turned-R&B; singer Cassie quit her catwalk career after she was told to lose weight. The 19-year-old hitmaker was furious when fashion bosses told her she needed to shift some weight and decided to swap modeling for a career in music.
Q: Whatever happened to that album you and Babs was supposed to drop?
E. Ness: We was supposed to drop an album, but what happened was we found our own identity so the label thought it was best if we come out with our own solo efforts. I'm up first and Babs still got a lot of material in the workings, she's putting together a solid project, but we recorded a lot of music so a lot of music didn't get used before they dismantled the band, but we got a lot of music recorded. So whenever I pop off and she pops off it's going to be a good look for both of us.
Q: I heard you on the radio a couple times here in Philly too, so why they showing you so much love?
E. Ness: Basically because of where I been, they know my struggle that I came from nothing and I got an opportunity to do what I always wanted to do and make money off it. I want to share my music with the world and sell records, so they support that and Philadelphia is a big market. It's not a real big city compared to other cities like Atlanta and New York, but it's a real big market and we take hip-hop serious. They know I'm one of the new faces up and coming, so they support me and get behind me and I give out the love while they show it back.
Danity Kane's second week sales are in and the big (bigger than usual) drop that a bunch of bored people were probably hoping for just didn't happen. They sold 117,359 units, the 2nd best selling album of the week with only the one and only Bob Dylan topping them with his first week. That makes for a total of 351,981. With any luck, they'll have gold sales in 2 weeks time.
Yung Joc continued his strong sales, dropping only a little (about 2,000 less), in with 27,925. 663,772 is his total.
Finally, Cassie's numbers continue to shrink, as he only sold 17,736 copies in her 4th week. That gives her a total of 184,033.
Crave Online: With MJ, you two are about to drop your seventh group release, and second for Bad Boy Entertainment. How does this new project measure up to previous 8 Ball & MJG efforts?
Eightball: Man, it�s just, like to me, it�s one of the best 8 Ball & MJG albums that we�ve done in a long time. It�s like a combination of all our best stuff. It�s just gritty! The tracks, the music, is extra big �- They extra big on this album. It�s just a real good 8 Ball & MJG album.
Crave Online: You named the new CD, Ridin� High. Why?
Eightball: I don�t know, man. I think we just�I think everything has just been tight on this album. Like we went all the way gritty, (just) like we wanted to go. And, I think the big difference on this album might be the production. It�s gritty, it�s underground, but the drums are so big on every song, like, we really tried to make some sh*t that was gonna bang in the trunk and bang in the club.
