Ballerstatus.net: This new single "I Love You" is blowing up. Tell me about the new album and how you hook up with Jim Jones?

Cheri Dennis: This song is a real universal and infectious song, something everybody can relate too, which is why it was my first choice. It's not too heavy, a no brainer and the album is the same way. It's about love and relationships, but not real dark. No one's going to slit their wrists.

The Jim Jones thing came about because Jim Jones and Puffy have a relationship and he was around at the time at Daddy's House doing some stuff and it seemed like the smart thing to do. And he's a dope artist. We have Yung Joc on the remix and he is a sweetie pie and very talented artist. Ryan Leslie produced it and he's dope too. He did about three tracks on the album. My album is not a big change, it's hip-hop soul, but it's a refreshing voice and I think people need a change right now.

Ballerstatus.net: Who are some of the other producers and songwriters you worked with?

Cheri Dennis: I do write some of my own songs. Producers I worked with are Timbaland, Rodney Jerkins and Mario Winans -- some really dope producers and some known some unknown. For me, it's not about a name, it's about whether you're bringing the heat.

Ballerstatus.net: Are there any other features from hip-hop artists?

Cheri Dennis: No, other than Puff, Jim Jones and Yung Joc. It's really about the introduction of Cheri Dennis.

Diddy, the master of promotion, will have to wait a little longer before he starts hyping his next LP, which he's planning to call PD5. The album � due to feature Mary J. Blige, Christina Aguilera and Nas � has been bumped to October 3.

Next up will be the second track from NEW JOC CITY, the self-produced 'I Know You See It.' The video, directed by Flyy Kai, will premiere during Joc's MTV2 'Sucker Free Sunday' hosting slot as a 'Making Of' on 7/16.

'It's Goin' Down' is also enjoying explosive success in the ringtone world. Throughout June, Yung Joc is being heavily featured across all major carriers including Cingular, T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon, and Virgin Mobile USA. In addition, Sprint has two exclusive non-album full-tracks available for download through the Sprint Music Store.

Opening at #3 is rapper Yung Joc's inaugural LP New Joc City, which put up first-week sales of more than 148,000, besting Ice Cube's latest, Laugh Now, Cry Later, by nearly 4,000 copies. Cube controls the #4 spot, followed at #5 by the soundtrack to the Disney Channel original movie "High School Musical," with close to 87,000 scans. The Red Hot Chili Peppers' Stadium Arcadium is at #6 with 86,000 units sold.

"I was excited to be with Puff. I was going to do a deal with him, but the money he offered was less than what I felt I deserved. Aside from them, JD made a counter offer that was considerably more, but I chose not to take it. Honestly I don't give a f*** about the personality standing next to me. I'm about the money right now and building my fan base," Killer Mike said.
