If Ciroc parent company Diageo decided to sell the vodka line, Diddy would stand to receive a lump sum, the amount of which would grow based on the overall value of the brand. This was revealed in a report by Forbes writer Zack O'Malley Greenburg.
Back when the deal was announced, it was said that it meant a 50/50 profit share between Diddy and Ciroc, which would max out at $100 million. Because of this, Greenburg's assertion was challenged in the comments on the story, but he defended the report.
That's true - it's not a straight equity deal, which is why it's not in the [company filing]," he said. "However, in my reporting I discovered that Diddy is entitled to a lump sum payout in the event of a sale, and this escalates along with the brand’s value. I doubt Diageo will sell, but if they do, he’s entitled to a nine-figure payday."
Greenburg suggests that Diddy's interest in Ciroc will lead to him becoming hip-hop's first billionaire.
Daron Jones of former Bad Boy group 112 posted a video on his YouTube channel where he is working on a track for Aasim. Though many might associate Jones with 112 and, as such, think of him as a singer, he has actually also been a producer for most, if not all of his time with the group.
He has a combined 28 production credits on Bad Boy releases, most commonly on the four albums 112 released on the label.
On Twitter, Willie Taylor of Day26 mentioned that Rico Love had "blessed" the group on their upcoming third album, expected later this year.
Love has an ever growing list of production and/or songwriting credits, including Beyonce's "Sweet Dreams," Dirty Money's "Hello Good Morning," Nelly's "Just a Dream" and more.
This one features the beat from the "Intro" to "Last Train to Paris," with vocals from Swizz Beatz that were featured on Dirty Money's "Yeah Yeah You Would." Download now.
Diddy made a surprise appearance at the Fader Fort at the South by Southwest (SXSW) Music Festival in Austin, Texas last night.
After introducing Lil B, he performed a small set including verses from "O Let's Do It (Remix)," "Mo Money Mo Problems," "Victory" and "It's All About the Benjamins." Check out clips below of the introduction and "Mo Money Mo Problems." They hung Diddy out to dry a little bit with an instrumental of the record, but he rapped along for a piece of Mase's part of the song, before taking it home with his verse.
Do you want to see the full performance? You can watch a continually looping stream on the Fader Fort website. Definitely recommended. It gets a little messy at the end when Odd Future comes on, someone throws something and hits Tyler the Creator in the head and then they throw some things back at the crowd before engaging in some stage diving.

Teen Vogue's latest issue includes a photo spread featuring Cassie and, to go along with that, their website has some behind the scenes coverage and an interview.
The singer shared an "iPad playlist" that was featured in the article and, in doing so, revealed a trio of new records, including a "new single" titled "Bougie S***." "Unprofessional" and "Ex Games" are the other two songs mentioned.
I was down at South by Southwest (SXSW) Interactive for the past week and that is why there has been no new articles during this span. We'll resume coverage shortly, but I wanted to be sure to mention that on Monday, Bad Boy Blog celebrated five years online.
I'd like to take the opportunity to thank everyone who supports what we do here. I launched this site because it was the site I wanted as a Bad Boy fan and that is where our responsibility first lies - to fans. I have a responsibility to provide accurate, fair coverage and work hard, every day, to ensure that that standard is met.
Thank you to the people in and around Bad Boy, and it's artists and ventures, who understand this and the importance of it - the importance of that independence and our responsibility to cover all stories. Not just the positive ones.
Thank you for reading this and for visiting Bad Boy Blog.
"Make Em Clap" uses previously released Diddy vocals while Feel Stronger features a new mix with numerous changes that you can hear when comparing it to the original version that was released. Edit: Aasim representative David Harraway says that some of the vocals on the song from Diddy are new. See more below.
Update: I have removed both records from our audio player. Shortly after this story was posted, I received an e-mail from David Harraway, who represents Aasim and had provided us with the audio.
He told me that my claim that "Make Em Clap" used previously released vocals from Diddy was inaccurate. He said that the vocals were new, except that they had used "maybe 2 things" from a previous record. According to him, they want people to accept the record as new and my writing took away from their desire. He suggested that I remove the comment about the vocals.
I responded, informing him that if there were new vocals on the record, I would be happy to update this post to make that clear, as I want it to be accurate. I asked that he please point me to a couple of examples of new vocals on the record and their second marks on the song. I also reminded him that while I like Aasim and we cover him like no one else does, that also doesn't mean that we aren't an independent publication.
His response was to request that I remove "Make Em Clap" from our audio player, that it had been given to me as a "courtesy" and that as a "gentleman," I should have removed the part about Diddy's vocals as a "courtesy" to him. In other words, if I want to play the record in our audio player, I should remove something from a post that was accurate at his demand, or else.
As such, I have removed the record - and "Feel Stronger" - from our audio player. Bad Boy Blog is an independent publication and while we are generally supportive of Bad Boy and it's artists, we will not be pressured into not covering potentially negative stories or stating simple facts (even if they aren't particularly negative, as was the case here).
Mr. Harraway did not respond to my request for pointers to the specific original vocals, but I have gone ahead and noted his objection to my writing above.
Fourteen years ago today, The Notorious B.I.G. passed away. At this point, that's all I need to say. The greatest rapper of all-time died on March 9. Rest in peace.
On Twitter, Aasim revealed that he was preparing a mixtape called "Last Stop Queens," which will use the beats and hooks from Diddy/Dirty Money's "Last Train to Paris."
On the website of Noviak Music, which is run by Willie Taylor of Day26, you can listen to some unreleased music from the group and from Taylor. Some of it you may have heard of, some you might not have, which is why I wanted to share it.
From their homepage, click on "The Unreleased Noviak Music" and "The Remixes Noviak Music" boxes in the rotating row and you'll be able to listen.
Tracks that we have not previously mentioned here on Bad Boy Blog include:
"A Song for KV" by Lucky (a stage name Taylor used previously)
"Pushing Beauty" by Lucky
"Over the Max" by Lucky
"In Love with Yo Booty" by John Blu featuring Willie Taylor
"Break Up" by Willie Taylor, Gucci Mane and Sean Garrett
On Twitter, Rick Ross shared a link to Rap Radar's post that features the new remix to Dirty Money's "Your Love," which includes a new verse from Rick Ross, a newly recorded clean verse from Diddy and some other small changes, as well.
Rap-Up.com reports that Dawn Richard is working on a solo album that is slated for a fall release on Bad Boy/Interscope.
"I've been incredibly lucky to have been in two amazing groups, but I feel like I've never had the opportunity to show the world what I can do on my own," she said.
Last night, Diddy was honored by the Jackie Robinson Foundation "for his innovation in music and fashion, as well as his charitable and philanthropic contributions throughout his storied career."
MLB.com's Spencer Fordin reports from the festivities, with video and some quotes from Diddy's speech and the introduction that was given to him by Russell Simmons.
"The greatness of a man like Jackie Robinson comes not only from his talent as an athlete," he said. "It comes from his spirit as a humanitarian. He had to be thinking about not just himself; He had to be thinking about others. He had to be thinking about the future. Jackie Robinson once said that 'A life is not important except for the impact it has on other lives.'
"And as I thought about coming here tonight, the power of those words -- the responsibility -- made me stop and think. To say my name in the same breath as Jackie Robinson is beyond humbling, and it's something that I had to ask myself if I was ready and if I was worthy of it. ...I had to ask myself if I was ready. And I'm here to tell you tonight that I am ready."
But, he mentioned that Dirty Money's "Coming Home" had now sold 2 million copies world wide while "Hello Good Morning" has sold 1.5 million. This is an update to the numbers he shared in mid-February. At that point, they had sold 1.7 million and 1.2 million, respectively.
The music video for Lil' Wayne's latest hit single, "6 Foot, 7 Foot," premiered on MTV.com on Thursday. Ciroc Coconut is featured in the clip, which you can watch below, at the :20 second mark.
Basketball player Shaquille O'Neal and his relationship with The Notorious B.I.G. is highlighted on the latest edition of ESPN's "Outside the Lines."
In the clip, which you can watch below, O'Neal discusses not only their friendship, but also the night that Biggie was killed. That night, he says, the plan was that he would meet up with Biggie and Diddy at a party, but he fell asleep. He wonders whether that would have changed what happened next.
Diddy and Lil' Cease were also interviewed for the segment.
One advertisement in the header was not interactive, but a large one toward the right side of the page was. When you moved your mouse over Monae's face, it showed a page within Bing featuring Monae and highlighted her song "Locked Inside." When clicked, you are directed to the Janelle Monae page on Bing Music.
The track is included on the new mixtape but as I listened to it, I realized it was an alternate mix of the record. If you listen to the two, side by side, you'll note the differences, including a beat change under Diddy's verse.
Diddy will appear on the March 10 episode of "American Idol" on FOX, coaching the remaining contestants on swag and dressing them in Sean John. He will also perform "Coming Home" with Dirty Money and, for the first time live, Skylar Grey.
"The way [Jennifer] handled coming after Simon and even myself from 'Making the Band' and the way we were hard coaches - she’s been like, a compassionate person," he said. "She has made me cry like twice and she's looked good doing it. And she has made sense so, you know, I'm proud of her."
Pam Long, part of the trio that made up former Bad Boy trio Total, is working on a new project and was recently interviewed by I Miss the Old School. She discussed her time with Bad Boy, the group's end, the prospects of a reunion, her relationship with Diddy and her current project. It's a nice blast from the past.
It seems like all interviews with former Bad Boy artists have to include the "how was your relationship with Diddy" question. It's nice to see a mature adult being the one answering it because that doesn't always happen. Check out her website for more.
Here are Bad Boy's positions on the most recent Billboard U.S. album and single charts, released on Thursday. Dirty Money's "Last Train to Paris" sees across the board gains while "Coming Home" gains in all but two charts, including a three slot gain on the Hot 100, resting at #19.

Play-N-Skillz, the production duo that won a GRAMMY for their work on Chamillionaire's "Ridin'," has released a remix to Dirty Money's "Coming Home." The song features only a small, small portion of Skylar Grey and does not feature any vocals from Dirty Money.
They shared a link to the video below, where you can hear the clip, via their Twitter profile.
Last month, a previously unreleased Dirty Money record titled "Set Me Free" appeared online, featuring Rico Love. Not much is known about the record, as it had not been mentioned previously by any of the artists before it popped up. The version that appears online sounds like an unfinished cut, likely recorded in consideration of the group's "Last Train to Paris" album.

OMG!, Music quotes a Simon Cowell appearance on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno regarding Diddy being a judge on the U.S. version of his show "The X Factor," which he executive produces. Cowell shot down the idea, saying that Diddy was "too expensive" for the role.
SOHH.com asked Cee-Lo Green to he felt was the most underrated music artist. His pick? Janelle Monae.
"There's a lot of reasons why I feel like Janelle could be considered the most underrated right now," he wrote. "I think the biggest reason is because she kind of reminds me a little bit of myself. I love the fact that she embodies so much that the average mind of anyone, let alone a music consumer, would deviate from the course of an entire album."
"I've been salivating for Janelle Monae's debut album since I heard her gorgeously breathy voice on her Off the Wall-style single "Lettin' Go!" She was already my favorite new artist before she put out her brilliant Metropolis EP, but on the heels of her epic Grammy performance, I imagine I'll be hearing my favorite new artist on the radio constantly."
Monae will be featured in the "Ladies First: the 90's and the New Millennium" section, where she will be honored among Bikini Kill, Meg White, Taylor Swift, Queen Latifah, Alicia Keys and Lady Gaga.
NBC New York reports that Birdel’s Records, a Brooklyn-based music shop, has closed it's doors. According to the owner, Joe Long, a young Christopher Wallace used to sample records in the basement. Long has decided to retire after working in the store for 44 years (and owning it for 33).
The winners at the 42nd NAACP Image Awards were announced last night and Dirty Money did not pick up the win in the Outstanding Duo, Group or Collaboration category where they had been nominated. Instead, John Legend and The Roots were honored.
This caused me to look for some additional footage, which I found care of Rap Radar. It's a long clip, over a half hour, but unlike the clip above, it features (a lot of) Cassie.
According to a press release, Janelle Monae will be among 12 honorees featured in the third annual Character Approved Awards. The special documentary will air on the USA Network at 11 PM ET on March 8.
Check out a clip below where Monae discusses how she used to tour dorm rooms around Atlanta and how people would knock on her door to buy her "The Audition" EP.
Singer Adele recently appeared on "Chelsea Lately" and she told a funny story of how she was so excited to meet Diddy that she almost hit him with a golf cart. Check out the interview clip below - the story starts at the 2:17 mark.
